FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Practical, accessibility, weather, ticketing. If your question is not listed here, please write to us via the contact page.

How long does the tour last?
The tour itself lasts about 45 minutes on the water. Allow a half-day in total at Arromanches to combine it with a visit to the D-Day Landing Museum, the 360° circular cinema and the open-air exhibits on the beach.
Is there an age limit?
The tour is open to all ages. Adult ticket from age 12, child ticket ages 2 to 11, free for under 2. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Boarding is from the slipway and the on-board layout is designed to welcome wheelchair users. To prepare a specific accessibility welcome, please tell us in advance via the contact form.
What happens in bad weather?
Safety first. If weather conditions make the tour impossible (wind, sea state, fog), the tour is cancelled and either rescheduled or fully refunded. The decision is taken by the master of the vessel, usually on the morning itself.
Is the commentary available in English?
Yes. The historical commentary is delivered through headphones in a bilingual French and English audioguide format. You listen at your own pace, in your own language.
Will I get seasick?
The tour stays within the amphitheatre of the artificial harbour and runs along the coast. Navigation is coastal and calm most of the time. The boat does not go offshore. For passengers who are particularly prone to seasickness, taking a suitable medication before boarding remains a sensible precaution.
Where exactly do I board?
Boarding is in Arromanches-les-Bains. The exact point on the seawall (slipway and access) will be published on the tour page and on the Tourist Office ticketing platform when 2026 sales open.
Where can I park?
Several public car parks are available in Arromanches-les-Bains, near the seawall and the D-Day Landing Museum. Details will be confirmed on the Tourist Office ticketing platform.
Can the tour be privately chartered for a group?
Yes. Private charter is offered on quote to schools, memorial associations, travel agencies and tour operators. Tailored itineraries, reserved time slots. Present your project via the contact form.
What should I bring?
Weather-appropriate clothing (a windbreaker is sensible in any season), closed and non-slip shoes. No bulky luggage. A camera if you wish: the maritime reading of the remains is worth remembering.
Is the commentary available in German?
The audioguide is planned in French and English at launch. Extension to German is being studied for 2027 depending on demand.
When does the booking open?
Official ticketing for the 2026 season is planned to open in spring 2026, handled by the local Tourist Office. Sign up via the contact form to be notified when sales open.
